Not only did AAF drop a new single, there are other ‘Reasons‘ for Ant Fans to celebrate today as March 6th also marks the 25th anniversary of Anthology. Their major label debut album went on to selling 2.3 million copies worldwide and shot the 4 lads from Riverside, California into the ‘Universe‘. So to celebrate head over to the ‘Alien Ant Fans’ Facebook group and share your stories, pictures and merch from the ANThology era, the link can be found at the bottom of the post.
I also wanted to do something fun and take the opportunity to tell you guys what the band means to me (Brett) by incorporating each track name into the story. I am hoping it mostly makes sense, haha. I have already used one above.
It was the ‘Summer‘ of 2001, ‘Smooth Criminal‘ was played on every radio and TV station across the globe you could not escape it. After watching the iconic music video on MTV a young boy some 5000 miles away was hooked instantly, he sensed the raw energy flow through his ‘Flesh and Bone‘. For a teenager that felt ‘Stranded‘ in a world that resembled the ‘Movies‘ it was like a ‘Wish‘ was granted and finally found his ‘Orange Appeal‘. Ant Farm were one of the reasons that gave him the ‘Courage‘ to pick up the bass and join a band. He wanted to do what they were doing and loved their ‘Attitude‘.
He no longer had to ‘Whisper‘ ‘Sticks & Stones‘ to his inner demons and The feeling of ‘(Happy) Death Day‘ was disappearing, there was now a purpose in life. As we fast forward 25 years to present day he is no longer in a band, sometimes picks up the bass and doesn’t own a ‘Calico‘ cat. But the one constant in his life weirdly is AAF.
He just wants to say thank you to the Ant Fans family for being there whether its online or in person for the last 25 years. Finally thank you to the band for making the soundtrack to his life and helping them through some difficult times in their life.
